How it works · the walkthrough

Four minutes, and you can stop at any step.

Four questions, a preview of your budget before any sign-up and with no banking credentials, then three fields. The free mode gives exactly the same budget as the paid one.

Banking credentials optional Read-only, always
Screenshot of the Link a bank screen in the Yoseri app. The list of institutions, the real state of each connection, and the line that matters: your credentials are entered at your institution, never here.

Yoseri is not open yet outside Canada.

This page describes the product as it works in Canada. The pension plans, the tax shelters and the connected banks here are Canadian: they do not transpose. Where you are, it would rather be the local public plan, with the local tax shelters as tax shelters and your tax administration opposite.

We do not claim to know those rules today — connecting them is work, not a translation. Tell us where you are: the order in which markets open is decided there.

The walkthrough

Four steps, eleven settings, nothing irreversible.

The walkthrough takes about 4 minutes. Until you create an account, your answers do not leave your device.

  1. Your goal

One answer is enough for now: know where your money goes, save for a project, get out of debt, track your investments or prepare what comes next.

Getting to know you · 1 of 4
  2. Your situation

Four questions: your net monthly income, your housing, the nature of your income, what you already have. Nothing is verified, nothing is transmitted, and you can correct it all afterwards.

  3. The preview

Yoseri shows you your statement, your budget and your first finding, built on your four answers. Before any sign-up, and with no banking credentials.

  4. Your account

First name, email address, password. No postal address, no date of birth, no social insurance number: none of that is needed to read accounts.

Your goal

Your answer changes the order of the screens, not what you have access to.

Five possible answers, one to pick. Choosing “get out of debt” puts the repayment plan and the order of attack first; choosing “save for a project” puts the dated goals up front.

  • One answer is enough — the others stay accessible
  • Changeable afterwards, without losing a single setting
  • No banking data requested at this step

Three fields. No address, no date of birth, no social insurance number.

None of that is needed to read accounts, so Yoseri does not ask for it. Everything else is never asked for.

The two fields that remain

Every field says what it is for, right beside it.

It is written on the sign-up screen, under the fields: first name for display, email for signing in, receipts and export. There is no hidden third use, and no pre-ticked box.

Manual is free, and it is exactly the same budget.

Two ways to keep your statement. In manual mode, Yoseri asks for no banking credentials — it is the most private mode there is, and it stays free forever.

The paid mode contains everything manual has, plus syncing. There is no budget feature reserved for the paid plan. The detail of the plans is on the Pricing page.

What manual costs

Three minutes a week, once the templates are made.

Three taps per transaction: the amount, the envelope, save. Templates store what comes up often — groceries $60, coffee $7, petrol $55, lunch $18 — and drop in with one tap.

  • Seven envelopes suggested in advance: you have nothing to invent
  • CSV import free, as often as you like
  • Switch to syncing whenever you want, losing nothing

The only real difference between the two is the typing. Everything else in the budget is identical.

Connecting · after signing up

The authorisation screen is the most important one in the walkthrough.

The app says so itself, at the top of the screen: “take the time to read this, nothing that follows will be a surprise”.

Where your money is

Start with the account your pay lands in. Or with none.

Five institutions are offered up front — Desjardins, National Bank, RBC, TD Canada Trust, BMO — and the other 33 are one click away: banks, credit unions, cards and brokers, 38 in all.

Where the connection works, and when. On October 1, when the private beta opens, banking authorisation covers Canada and the United States. France and the United Kingdom are targeted for the December 1 launch — targeted, not promised: a connection depends on an aggregator and on institutions that are not ours. Everywhere, manual entry gives the same budget from day one.

  • 38 institutions available, five of them listed with their status
  • A status per connection: steady, slow, connected
  • Yours missing? Eleven were added this year on request

Your credentials are typed at your institution, in its own window. Yoseri never sees them and cannot store them.

The authorisation, in full

What you authorise, exactly.

The two columns below are the app’s authorisation screen, copied out. Nothing is summarised, nothing is softened.

Yoseri will be able to
  • Read your balances and transactionsIncluding up to 24 months of history, so the comparisons work from day one.
  • Read the name and type of your accountsTo tell them apart and apply the right tax rules.
  • Refresh that data four times a dayFor as long as you have not revoked access.
Yoseri will not be able to
  • Move moneyNo transfer, no payment, no purchase. The authorisation requested does not technically allow it.
  • See or store your credentialsYou type them at your institution, in its window. Yoseri receives an access token, never your password.
  • Change anything at your bankNo write is possible in either direction.
  • Sell or share your dataNot to an advertiser, not to a data broker, not to an institution.

Straight questions

The four questions people ask before starting.

Short answers, with the app’s own figures.

How long does it really take?

About 4 minutes end to end. After that, in manual mode, count about three minutes a week once your templates are made.

Do I need a credit card to try it?

No. Manual entry is free, with no transaction limit, and it includes the envelopes, the calendar, the recurrences, the debts, the goals and the CSV import.

And if I change my mind after connecting my bank?

Revoking is immediate, in two taps. Three connections are cut on the spot, erasure happens within 30 days, and the export of your data stays available.

Can I start without a bank?

Yes, and even without an account: “Explore Yoseri” is offered on the sign-in screen. In manual mode, Yoseri starts from seven envelopes estimated on your declared income — marked as estimates until you have three months of entries.

You can see your budget before handing over anything.

Four questions, thirty seconds, and the preview appears — before any sign-up, with no banking credentials. If you leave at that point, nothing is left of it.

Free with manual entry, for life. Read-only, always: Yoseri cannot move a single dollar.
